This Lunar New Year, I was given a gift that looks like a vase, but it’s actually a set of nested banquet bowls – each with its own purpose.
Together, they form one beautiful whole.
This past week marked 15 years of calling Singapore home. So, this “vase” feels especially appropriate because living here has taught me to appreciate layers.
Singapore is woven from many cultures, languages, and traditions – Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian – layered into something uniquely its own.
No single layer defines it.
None replaces another.
Yet together, they create something cohesive and resilient.
I’m grateful to live in a place that demonstrates how diversity, when intentionally woven together, becomes strength. 🧧
Wishing all who celebrate a meaningful and prosperous New Year!
