Nineteen years ago today! That’s when I officially left the security of my corporate executive job and began running my own business.
The “April Fool’s Day” start date was no coincidence. I chose it on purpose because I figured that, if it didn’t work out, I could go running back to big business and say, “Just kidding!” But here we are, 19 years later, and what a journey this has been…
As our team celebrates this milestone, my hat is off to all entrepreneurs for having the courage to begin something new. There are a lot of people starting their own businesses these days, and I really honor that. It takes vision, persistence, commitment … and a very good sense of humor, I must say!
What do YOU think it takes to be successful as an entrepreneur these days?
P.S. By the way, the photo below is of my very first office. Check out all of the “circa 2002” fixings… antenna phone, CD -ROMs, Palm Pilot, Rolodex, paper calendar, etc. It makes me chuckle to see all of the retro gadgets!
