Unlocking Effective Communication in Large Companies: The Power of Repetition

May 8, 2024

Ever felt like your message isn’t getting through to your team? You’re not alone. Many CEOs I coach face this challenge within the large, multinational corporations they lead.

My advice: Repeat yourself—three times, minimum.

“But wait,” they ask. “Won’t that bore employees?”

Not at all! Here’s why:

MAKE IT STICK:
Saying something more than once helps your team remember it better.

CLEAR THE FOG:
Not everyone gets a point right away. Repeating your message gives everyone a chance to understand and clears up any confusion.

MIX IT UP:
Say it in different ways! Repeating lets you share your message in ways that suit different people, like talking, writing, showing pictures, or discussing it as a group.

STAND OUT:
In a flood of information, saying things again makes certain your message gets noticed.

STAY ON TRACK:
Stating a message again and again helps everyone focus on the same goals and values, driving stronger teamwork.

DRIVE CHANGE:
Hearing things more than once makes people more likely to actually do something about it – to take action, and move it forward.

BUILD TRUST:
Being open and saying things over and over shows you’re honest and keeps everyone in the loop.

By repeating key messages, CEOs ensure their words consistently resonate throughout the entire organization, driving engagement, alignment and – ultimately – success.

I’d love to hear from you! What strategies have you found effective, to make sure your messages are heard loud and clear within your organization or team? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 👂💬
